The above one clearly proves your statement. Looks like it would be pretty damn fast to me.

Yeah the leather on my bench is of poor quality. I want to get it reupholstered with some nice stuff some day when it gets all cracked. As for lateral support, my Merc's really only ever going to go fast in a straight line.

Shenanigans! Marauder had DOHC as opposed to single cam. And produced 50 more horsepower than the P71!!! I don't have a torque number on the P71, but I doubt its at 318 lb ft.
Marauder "The Marauder had a naturally aspirated 4.6 L V8 DOHC Ford Modular engine producing 302 hp (225 kW) and 318 ft·lbf (431 N·m) of torque; this engine had many parts — including heads, cams, block and rotating assembly — in common with the 2003–2004 Mustang Mach 1 Automatic"
P71 Crown Vic "The 2004–2011 Police Interceptor is rated for 186.5 kW (254 PS; 250 hp) mostly due to the addition of a new better flowing air intake system . This system includes a new airbox that is similar to the Mercury Marauder airbox (raised airbox lid, deeper bottom)"

Just looked it up- seems legit. Although, for 2 grand I bet you could get a local shop to do a custom job that didn't involve covers.

good lord.I think you need your sarcasm meter adjusted. You have to be more insane with your comment or add some idiot bro-speak lol.
Now for the important stuff. Is yours a true Marauder?
What exhaust are you running?

Hmm I've never heard of Aero Turbine. I went with the typical muscle car guy exhaust when I just put the exhaust on my Montego.
Those are some nice numbers, I'm very jealous. I'd love to have a Marauder, but it would have to do daily driver duties for me.
Did you see the Montego exhaust video?

A lot of marauder people use them, which is why I want to ditch them and go with borla stingers. I plan on getting my exhaust redone next year with a 3" X pipe with 2.5" over axles, should pick up about 30rwhp
and no i have not

This is my 1968 Mercury Montego MX. It has a 302 V8, Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake, and 4 Barrel Holley (only about 400 cfm).
Oh and most importantly for the video it now has dual Super 44 Flowmasters. 2.5" pipes and mufflers from the stock manifolds all the way out the back. Straight pipes, no X or H pipes.

a 302? those didn't come with like 390's or something? My knowledge of old mercs is vague

It came with I believe a straight 6, a 302, 351, 390, and a 428 big boy.
And variations by carb for all of them. I believe the 302, 351, and 390 were available in 2 or 4 barrel. Mine was originally a 2 barrel.
It's also a Cyclone package, which is the performance handling set up...also known as power steering and a sway bar. power brakes would have been nice...lol.
They even called some of the Ford versions (Torino's) GT's with motors as low as a 302, it was more about the package than actually being a "GT".

351C? W? certainly not a 351M right?

For 68 only the W was available. No C or M.
I do have to say despite being a rather large car (has nothing on a Monterrey for size though) that little 302 is fun as hell. It had 210 hp stock and with the intake, carb, and now the dual exhaust I estimate I've picked up a good 75 hp, which would put me at 285 hp. (if not more, i like to be conservative on hp increase guesses lol). NADA says that I have 210 stock. Which based off of NADA info puts me higher than some stock 390 big blocks for power numbers.
The engine size question has a couple answers apparently. Wiki says: 250 I6, 302, 351W, 290, 400.
NADA says: 302, 390, 427 and 428.
All with varying carbs/power outputs. Interesting. I may have to do more research now!
